I got this on the River Dee on Monday.
The locals seemed impressed that a first timer got the 19lb fish on his first day. I told them it was all down to your tuition!
Thanks for your help.

Thank you for a very enjoyable couple of hours yesterday. Sian and I felt that we had got the basic information to help us start on what we hope might be a new hobby for us. Your patience and step by step introduction to the techniques and complexities of fly fishing was well conveyed and gave us the confidence to approach our holiday in Scotland with a lot more confidence.
We so enjoyed our first fly fishing lesson. Brian did a great job of teaching us the basics and I hope to be back for round two in the not too distant future.
A belated thanks for the two hour fishing lesson you gave Oliver and me, just after Easter. We both really enjoyed it and learnt enough to keep us going for the day. We caught our quota so must have remembered something after you had left. I particularly wanted to thank you for your patience with Oliver, he is quite shy, but with your gentle approach and friendly manner, he was soon won over.
We both look forward to more successful fishing in the future.
Excellent tuition that really made a difference - I can't believe how much progress I made in one hour. You'll be pleased to hear that I put my skills to test on the Test (!) last Friday. Hard days fishing, sunny and very hot
- not necessarily the best conditions, but my casting practice helped me catch my first Grayling on a dry fly!
Many thanks - hope to pop back from to improve skills over the coming months.
Just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed my fly fishing lesson last weekend. I really feel I managed to pick up the basics with your excellent tuition and will be able to continue what I hope will be a long-lived pastime. Now I just have to try and persuade alexandra to join me! (might be a bit easier when the sun is shining rather than torrential rain!)
All the best
Thank you for one of the most adeptly handled casting lessons I have watched. Teaching a seven-year old to fly-cast requires all sorts of extra skills. Somewhere between being a primary school teacher, a life guard and a shepherd! My son Louis adored his time on the lake – and the first thing he asked was when could we go again.
Tight lines for the autumn,
Our best wishes,
Patrick & Louis.
Brian from Elite Fly Fishing School was the perfect host for my son and I to enjoy our first steps into Fly fishing. We had a very enjoyable morning learning casting techniques and fly craft. Brian was very patient with my 7 year old son and got him casting well after just an hour of tuition. I highly recommend Elite Fly Fishing School to anyone interested in learning basics or honing their technical skills.
This is a short note to say thanks so much for teaching my son Sam and I how to fly fish properly!!!!!, we had a fantastic day at the picturesque lake and caught 3 v large trout which i filleted and hot smoked when we got home, they were stunning!
The tuition was excellent, and we really appreciated they way you were so patient and spent time with each of us, not fishing for us, but teaching us the various techniques and letting us do it. It was a great day out and worth every penny! Thanks again and we really enjoyed your company.

Many thanks for a very informative and enjoyable fly fishing lesson in the wonderful surroundings of Bushyleaze. As I have never cast a fly rod before your enthusiasm for the sport was inspiring. I am now saving to buy my first fly rod!
Just a short note to say thank you for fly fishing lesson you gave to me and my son in-law James earlier this month. We both had a very enjoyable morning and made better progress learning to cast than I had expected. Your knowledge and enthusiasm for fly fishing were very clear to us as was your gift for sharing it.
I just wanted to say thank you very much for last nights casting/fishing lesson.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and you have taught me so much in such a short period of time.
I know that there is still so much more to learn but I feel the instruction you have provided me with has given me the confidence to go and fish safely and with some degree of style.
My next stop will be the tackle shop for the basic equipment, hopefully they will do me a deal as I have written a short shopping list. We did not discuss using mud and floatent yesterday but I have put them on the list anyway, and I'm sure they will recommend suitable flys.
I hope to see you out by the water in the near future.
I shall sign off by saying "tight lines".
Thank you once again
Hi Brian. I just wanted to thank you for a fabulous session yesterday. You made something that looks very complicated – Spey casting and made it both simple to understand and a sheer joy to try. No amount of reading. looking at pictures or watching dvds could achieve what you did in that 2 hour session .
I am also most grateful for all the advice of equipment , getting the right rod/ line balance and particularly understanding the tipping point when loading the rod. Many thanks also for the very helpful tips on the river I will be fishing and for your guidance on fishing at Bushey. I am looking forward to using the Bruce and Walker next week and will let you know how I get on.
Once again many thanks for a wonderful experience.

A master in his field (or river), Brian is a kind and patient instructor who had me doubling my casting distance in two lessons.
I've just returned from a casting lesson with Brian which my girlfriend gave me as a birthday gift. As a relative newcomer to fly fishing, Brian was very patient and talked me through a number of casting techniques step by step which dramatically improved the distances I was achieving. I'm already looking forward to getting out again to put what I learnt into practice. I would thoroughly recommend a session with Brian and look forward to booking again in the future.
Good Morning Brian, we have both decided to take up fly fishing. Bob has already been over to Hanningfield a couple of times to speak to them and see what tackle they are using over there. His relative with the shop is currently reducing his stock and going to give Bob a good deal to get him started. So next time I am over at Bob's we'll sneak off the Hanningfield for a few hours.
Thanks again very much for the course you gave us it was fantastic and it was a great incite into the sport. To go out and try boat fishing as well was lovely and we were both surprise at how much you managed to fit into the three hours. We couldn't stop talking about it all day and we both look forward to hooking our first fish. Many Thanks again.
Alistair and Bob.
I showed Charlie your mail and he said 'without Brian, id be nowhere in fishing and you never know, one day he might have trained the best flyfisherman in the world' (at least he's aiming high!).
Thought you might like a quick update on Charlie's fishing progress. He's been catching well, including a 4 1/2 lb brownie and three recent doubles, the best being the one below from Avon Springs at 12lb 7.
He's been fishing a fair bit at Manningford and is being put forward for the Junior England team.
We are booked into Lechlade on Saturday, so perhaps we'll see you there.
"I want to thank you for such a brilliant morning of fly fishing tuition.
Your authoritative yet relaxed manner put me at ease enabling me to enjoy learning the rudiments of fly fishing such as which flies to use, right through to casting.
You have given me the confidence to enjoy this sport and I look forward to many happy years of fly fishing.
Thank you for being prepared to advise me on any aspect I may need help with, and I look forward to meeting you again in the near future.
At last my husband knows what to buy me for birthdays / Christmas!"
I had the MOST fabulous time! My hostess took one look at my casting on the first day and said "You've been well taught"!
I definitely caught the fishing bug.
A few years ago I started fishing for Salmon in Scotland and developed a passion for it. Recently I took up trout fishing in the Cotswolds and needed tuition. I was recommended to Brian Morris by a friend who told me that Brian was the best man in the area to introduce me to the art of fly casting for brown trout and to give me the basics. I am happy to say that Brian more than lived up to his reputation. He is not only a master of his sport he is also patient and very good at coaching the novice to develop the right techniques.
I have no hesitation in recommending a few hours one to one tuition with Brian to anyone who wants to develop their fly casting skills. It was a pleasure as well as a learning experience. Before I next return to Scotland I will be spending an hour with Brian brushing up on my Spey casting technique. It is great to have someone local to lean on for advice from time to time.
I would highly recommend Brian Morris as an instructor for a host of reasons. Brian has the perfect balance of patience with absolute beginners, variety of experience in all types of fishing one may encounter, a deep knowledge of most of the problems beginners will experience in their early days alone on a beat, the ability to introduce and help the beginner master most of the jargon and etiquette needed on the bank and he manages to complement all of these skills with a wonderful sense of bonhomie. If one hasn't got the bug prior to his lessons, one certainly will thereafter!

The first time I went salmon fishing I got some lessons from you to learn to Spey cast. The result was I caught my first Salmon at my first attempt - two Grilse in fact in two days from the Tweed.
Then, having been invited onto the Spey recently I got a top up lesson with you. The result: a hulking 18 pound hen and a beautiful 5lbs Grilse.
